Finding Flow

Finding Flow in a Whole New Way

I Loved Office Life—Until It Ended

For more than 15 years, I worked in an office—and I genuinely loved it.
I enjoyed being part of a team, collaborating on projects, bouncing around ideas in meetings, and even those quick hallway chats that often sparked the best breakthroughs. There was an energy in the day-to-day rhythm, a joy in working toward shared goals, and a real sense of contribution. I thrived in that environment. It felt like exactly where I was meant to be.

But everything changed when I lost my job.

Stepping into Freelance: Scared but Curious

That’s when I transitioned into freelance work—and honestly, it was scary. Not just because of the financial uncertainty, but because I was walking away from something that had been a huge part of my identity. The structure, the camaraderie, the in-person collaboration—all of it was gone. I felt unanchored, unsure, and overwhelmed.

Still, something in me was willing to try. I started exploring online jobs, signed up on freelance platforms, asked questions, and watched tutorials—basically, figuring things out one step at a time. I didn’t have a grand plan, just a little bit of curiosity and a lot of hope. Slowly, things began to click. I started taking on small projects as a virtual assistant, learned new tools, built client relationships, and carved out a new rhythm.

One Year In: Finding Flow on My Own Terms

Now, it’s been a year since I started doing freelance work for clients—and what a journey it’s been.

It wasn’t the same as office life—but it became fulfilling in a different way. I discovered that connection, growth, and purpose don’t just exist within office walls. They can be found in late-night Zoom calls, thoughtful email exchanges, and the trust built over time with clients who see and value your work.

How the Freakness Flow Model Helped Me Shift

The Freakness Flow model helped me more than I realized at the time. It helped me navigate the shift—from the initial fear and resistance to being open to possibility to finding clarity and confidence in this new season. It gave me permission to pause, reflect, and move forward without pressure, but with intention.

What Life Looks Like Now

Now, as a freelance VA, I work with incredible clients who inspire me. I’ve found a balance that allows for both structure and freedom. I manage my time in a way that fits my natural rhythm. I get to do purposeful work from wherever I choose. And the best part? I wake up each day actually looking forward to what’s ahead.

No, it’s not perfect—nothing ever is. But it’s real. And it feels right.

I’m not just working to get by anymore. I’m working in flow—aligned with my values, my energy, and the kind of life I want to live. And that, for me, has made all the difference.
